5 Best Sports Bars in by City in Australia to Watch the Ashes (2025–26) — Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Gold Coast

Introduction

The Ashes isn’t just five Test matches – it’s a full-blown sports travel pilgrimage (English, Australians, and ALL Cricket fans) across Australia’s great cricket cities. With the series running Perth → Brisbane → Adelaide → Melbourne → Sydney, many fans plan their trips around stadium days, sightseeing, and (most importantly) the best places to watch the action with sound on and cold beers flowing if you can’t get a ticket. I’m headed to Perth on Monday so will have an update shortly. They actually have a Boston Bar (as a Boston native), so curious on that and will provide a full profile and video. I lived in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra, and visited Adelaide and Brisbane several times. Sports travel quick take (from the Ashes travel guide): doing multiple Tests can mean thousands of kilometres between venues, so most travellers pair city stays (and pub sessions) with beaches, day trips, and “bucket list” sightseeing between matches.  Below are five featured sports bars per city/region, each with a full profile, plus a short list of nearby non-sports-bar alternatives for mixed groups.
