Introduction
Finding a proper sports bar to watch the English Premier League in Boulder is tougher than locating a craft brewery – and that’s saying something in a city with over 20 breweries! With EPL matches typically kicking off between 5:30 AM and 10 AM Mountain Time, most Boulder sports bars are still sleeping when the beautiful game is being played across the pond.
After years of searching for the perfect spot to catch early morning matches (and plenty of disappointing 11 AM bar openings), I’ve discovered that one venue truly stands above the rest. The Hungry Toad has become Boulder’s undisputed home for EPL fans, opening their doors at 8 AM on Saturdays and 9 AM on Sundays specifically for Premier League action.

During my countless Saturday mornings bouncing around prospective bars, I’ve watched the place transform from a quiet pub at 8 AM to a packed house of passionate fans by 9:30.
Sports Setup: The pub features multiple TVs positioned throughout with clear sightlines from the bar and dining areas. While the technology might not be the absolute latest 4K displays, the atmosphere more than makes up for it. They prioritize Premier League audio during matches, so you’ll hear every “GOOOOAL!” call clearly.
Food & Drink: This is where The Hungry Toad really shines for EPL fans. Full English breakfast? Check. Fish and chips at 9 AM? No problem. Lunch & Dinner provide British pub favorites that pair perfectly with early morning football. The beer selection includes ales and they’ll pour you a proper pint even at 9 AM on a Saturday.
Atmosphere: The staff knows their football and can pour a good Guinness. Popular matches fill up fast, so reserve or arrive more than 30 minutes early for big derbies. Here’s the truth about watching Premier League in Boulder: most bars won’t accommodate those 5:30 AM or 7:30 AM kickoffs. I learned this the hard way during my first season here, showing up at multiple “sports bars” only to find locked doors and dark windows while matches were already underway.
The Hungry Toad stands alone in their commitment to EPL fans. They’ve built a community around early morning football that you won’t find anywhere else in Boulder. Sure, you might catch a late afternoon match at Dark Horse or grab wings at Outback Saloon for a 3 PM game, but for the full EPL experience? The Hungry Toad is your only real option.
Outsaide of Boulder, bars like Mudrocks in Louisville is open early for the matches and has a solid breakfast and great sports bar ambiance.

Boulder’s craft beer scene might be world-class, but its EPL viewing options are surprisingly limited. The Hungry Toad has a strong market presence by doing one simple thing: actually opening when matches are played!
