Step into THE FooTNiK Ebisu, where eclectic vibes meet exquisite drinks. Nestled in the heart of Shibuya, this inviting bar offers a unique blend of cocktails and ambiance perfect for any night out.
THE FooTNiK opened in Takadanobaba on June 8, 1996 — the opening day of Euro 96 in England — making it Japan's oldest British sports pub. The Ebisu branch opened in 2001 and has been Tokyo's definitive European football destination ever since. The owner opened the bar out of a genuine love for British culture and football; that authenticity shows in every decision the venue makes. By 2026, FooTNiK will have been serving Tokyo's football community for thirty years. That kind of longevity only happens when a bar consistently delivers what its customers need. Manager Manop Khalifa described the original mission to Japan Sports Journey: 'The idea was to make a place where foreigners and Japanese people could gather together, watch football, and create an exciting international atmosphere.' Today the clientele is roughly 30% foreign — regulars from the UK, Ireland, Australia, and the US — and 70% Japanese. Staff speak English. The bar brews its own craft beers since 2024. Tokyo football blogger Tokyo Alleyways calls it simply 'The Classic Football Pub' and notes it is 'top of the lists and Reddit comment sections for a reason.'
